Yes, after you input your email to unlock extended results to will be able to search for free for the next 24 hours. Currently though the search engine is under going some changes so you will be re-directed to a paid service.

It does only cover the US. Unfortunately the records available are only in the US. I am sure other countries will follow suit in years to come.

Very interesting tool indeed…im sure it has both positive and possibly negative sides to it…fine if you want to find a loved one or friend you have lost contact with…but what about an abusive ex partner or such for instance,would you really want them to find you again

Yes it is when it was working. The Free People Search has been shut down temporarily to deal with fraud problems. Hopefully they will re-open soon. In the meantime they have a fair paid search in place.
You are right about the good an bad aspects of people search. It can be used for good and bad ends. The founder of the search engine is good about removing people that do not want to be found.
